Trying to figure out what support is available as you or your child moves from school to adulthood? Different plans can support goals like going to college, getting a job, and increasing independence to live in the community.
Understanding how supports work together can be confusing. To make things easier, we’ve partnered with the California Department of Education’s Statewide System of Support Resource Lead, High Quality IEPs, and the Department of Rehabilitation to create a guide that compares three plans side by side:
- The Individualized Education Program (IEP) supports students in school
- The Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) supports job goals and services
- The Individualized Program Plan (IPP) supports the individual’s goals to live independently in the community
The guide explains how these plans are alike and are different, including:
- eligibility requirements
- timelines
- planning team members
- services and supports
- dispute resolution
The guide makes it easier for people to understand how to move from school to work, college, independent living, and adult services.
