The Provider Directory soon will allow potential service providers to apply for vendorization online.

Launched in October 2024, the Directory is a centralized online portal where providers can manage their data.  Starting December 3, this portal will feature a new standard vendorization process.

Vendorization is the process that regional centers use to approve service providers to deliver supports and services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in California.

Why This Matters to You:

  • This change is part of a broader effort to standardize certain regional center procedures to make the experience more equal for people across the State.
  • A standardized vendorization process will help all providers use the same consistent process across all regional centers, reducing confusion and delays.
  • Built-in tools for submission and tracking will make the approval process smoother, helping applicants become vendors and begin serving individuals and families faster.

What’s Next:

  • Starting December 3, 2025, potential providers can begin the vendorization process in the Provider Directory.
  • Beginning March 1, 2026, all new vendorizations must be done in the Directory.  Exceptions:
    • Purchase Reimbursement (service code 024) vendorization applications may continue to be submitted manually through June 30, 2026.
    • Providers that will offer services through the Self-Determination Program are excluded from the Directory, except Financial Management Services (service codes 315-317)
    • Emergency vendorizations are completed outside the Directory.  However, providers must complete the vendorization process in the Directory within 30 days of emergency approval.
