Seven people stand behind a red ribbon on the porch of a house

The Liberi Home in Sacramento is now ready to welcome its first residents!  Each bedroom is decorated with items they enjoy; one is decked out in dinosaurs, another has baseball-themed art and bedding, and a third is bright and cozy with Minnie Mouse décor.  The home also offers a spacious, accessible living room, a cheerful playroom, and a well-shaded backyard.

Next month, three children will move into the Liberi Home, a Group Home for Children with Special Healthcare Needs (GHCSHN).  The home can support up to five residents between the ages of 7 to 17, with the possibility of staying until they’re 22.  Licensed nurses provide 24/7 care for each child, which can include gastrostomy-tubes, tracheostomies, mechanical ventilation, total parenteral nutrition catheters, injectable medications, and more.

On September 4, 2025, the Department’s Office of Statewide Clinical Services and Alta California Regional Center joined Liberi Network Corp to celebrate the grand opening of the home, the second of its kind in California.  The first GHCSHN opened in Merced earlier this year.  Two more homes are currently being developed in Fresno and San Diego, expanding options for medically fragile youth who previously had few residential choices.

GHCSHNs are certified by the Department, licensed by the Department of Social Services and vendored by the regional center.  Established by state law in 2021, the model builds on the success of Adult Residential Facility for Persons with Special Health Care Needs.
