California continues to expand inclusive, affordable housing for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

On October 14, 2025, community partners gathered in San Diego to celebrate the grand opening of the Modica Family Apartments and Taormina Family Apartments in Clairemont.  Led by Chelsea Investments Corporations in partnership with the San Diego Regional Center (SDRC), both developments have modern features such as a community room, computer resource center, playgrounds, and underground parking.

Between the two developments, 58 apartments are set aside for individuals and families supported by SDRC.

Just days earlier, on October 8, another affordable housing development called Harrington Heights celebrated its grand opening.  Harrington Heights includes 40 units set aside for individuals and families served by SDRC.

These three developments support efforts across San Diego and throughout California to expand access to long-term safe, inclusive housing in the community for individuals receiving regional center services.
